KVOS247.com was developed as a video streaming site for KVOS, a Bellingham, WA television station. 

 

The Technology

This particular site is one of the most advanced and complex projects that Daring Coders has taken on. It runs on a heavily modified install of Melody, a streaming website suite by PHP Sugar. Along with the site's front end we also delivered a full video ad streaming service using Open X and Open Video Ads, both open source ad serving solutions. We had to build on many additional functions to these software suites as they were not originally designed to work together in the manner we needed. Daring Coders improved the system by creating an ad slotting system that allows the site owner to dictate when to play ads for each video. Another addition was a CSS based skin over the video player that places a splash image over the video. The site's administrative side includes safety checks for image sizes and locations, video lengths and locations, and added pages to manage functions such as the home page's large banner images. The site, videos and ads are all run on Daring Coder's dedicated server.
