ImgThis.com started as a pet project by our head website coder, Siva Katir, but has since become a focus of Daring Coders. The last several months have seen it change from an ugly and very simple image uploading service to a full service image uploader with more features constantly being introduced.

 

The Technology

The site is written in PHP and driven by a mySQL database. Image manipulation is done on the server during upload via the PHP module ImageMagick. ImgThis is one of the sites that is fully hosted on Daring Coder's dedicated servers.

 

Site Goals

Originally the site was started with no other goal then building it for the experience. As it has evolved over time that focus has changed. Currently the next major upgrade will create a fully customizable gallery system that can be embedded on any website's page. This will allow website owners (even those without coding expertise) to add their own scalable gallery system through ImgThis. They will be able to simply upload their images into an album and have that album shown on any website they want. We're excited about this upcoming release and it will be rolled out in the next few weeks.
